Two Men Face Charges Over Heathrow ‘Pepper Spray’ Assault
Two individuals are now facing charges in connection with a suitcase robbery where a believed to be irritant spray led to people being hurt at the UK's busiest airport.
Tyrone Richards, 31, and Anton Clarke-Butcher, 24, are accused of two counts of robbery and two counts of deploying a toxic agent, as confirmed by court officials.
The charges follow an probe of an attack at the parking structure at Heathrow's Terminal Three on the weekend. Before the assault occurred, two female travelers had their luggage taken after getting out of a parking garage elevator, according to law enforcement.
A toddler was caught up in the incident during the incident. A total of five individuals went to hospital for treatment and were subsequently released.
The incident – described by police as was isolated and not being treated as terrorism – caused disruptions to rail services and the partial closure of the Central Terminal Area tunnel and the Terminal 3 car park for a short time.
