Well beyond 14 days after the tragic deaths of celebrated filmmaker Rob Reiner and his wife, photographer Michele Reiner, peers and loved ones are still paying respects to the duo.
Quoting a Classic: Cary Elwes Recalls His Director
Sharing on Instagram, actor Cary Elwes, who starred in Reiner's beloved 1987 film *The Princess Bride*, mentioned he only now felt ready to share openly about his personal sorrow.
"Enough time has passed that I can at last articulate my loss into words," shared Elwes, noting that his first meeting with Reiner made him fall in love. "As we began spending more time together I understood this was someone I longed to have in my life."
The actor uploaded behind-the-scenes footage from the film, adding that he could not remember "one day without joy".
"This story is about love, loyalty and sacrifice. Principles that Rob cherished deeply. That is part of the many reasons he was the best person to helm it," Elwes wrote.
He additionally honored Michele Reiner, saying: "Claiming that they were a incredible duo would be an understatement. My heart still pangs every time I remember you." He ended with a phrase from *The Princess Bride*: "Sure, death cannot stop true love but living is anguish without you."
Martin Scorsese Reflects on a Friend and Collaborator
In a different piece, legendary director Martin Scorsese also honored Reiner, whom he initially encountered in the 1970s.
"Right away, I loved spending time with Rob. We had a natural affinity for each other. He was uproarious and sometimes sharply witty, but he was never the kind of guy who would dominate the room," Scorsese shared.
Scorsese mentioned Reiner's supporting role in his 2013 film *The Wolf of Wall Street*, embodying the father of the main character.
"He could improvise with the best. He was a virtuoso at comedy, he worked wonderfully with the cast, and he grasped the emotional dilemma of his character," Scorsese wrote.
Legal Developments: Autopsy Reports Restricted
In a new development, a Los Angeles court official ruled to prevent the release of the Reiners' autopsy reports, following a petition from the local authorities.
A legal directive put a restriction on the cases to prohibit the public release of "any investigative information, notes, reports or photos" pertaining to the probe.
The relevant authority had previously confirmed their deaths were the result of murder, with a record listing the cause as "injuries from a sharp object".

After the tragedy, public personalities shared divergent comments.
Former President Donald Trump wrote on the matter, offering provocative remarks that were broadly criticized by numerous commentators.
Podcaster Joe Rogan added his criticism to the critics recently. Conversing on his show, Rogan described the remarks as "shocking" and remarked they showed a concerning lack of empathy.
Rogan finished by suggesting that an adviser ought to have acted when the impulse to speak on the death was made.
